why we chose to plant hakea

When you think of food for the Carnaby’s Black Cockatoos, the iconic Hakea is probably one of the first plants that comes to mind. But why are they so important? These native powerhouses are more than just a pretty flower; their large, cone-like fruits are packed with the fatty, protein-rich seeds that provide essential energy for these endangered birds, especially during breeding season.
