why we chose hakeas for cockatoos

When you think of food for the White-tailed Black Cockatoos, the iconic Hakea is probably one of the first plants that comes to mind. But why are they so important? These native powerhouses are more than just a pretty flower; their large, cone-like fruits are packed with the fatty, protein-rich seeds that provide essential energy for these endangered birds, especially during breeding season.
